On February 20th, 16 members of the Livonia Rotary Club conducted a Rotary Awareness Day project at Laurel Park Place Mall.
In response to Rotary International President, John Kenny's request for Local Rotary Clubs to conduct a public image project, specifically a End Polio Now campaign project, the Livonia Rotary Club set up a booth at Laurel Park Place Mall. Their goal was to display and give away Polio Eradication information, Livonia Rotary Club information, and to show a video on the progress of the End Polio Now campaign. In addition, purple bracelets with the message "End Polio Now" and "www.rotary.org" on them were sold for a suggested price of $5.00 each. At the end of the day $132.00 was collected from the bracelets and will be forwarded to Polio Plus Campaign of Rotary International. Many THANKS go out to Rotarians: Barbara Lewis, Ian Smart, Kevin Hewitt, Giovanni Opimitti, Bob Moore, John Elkins, Hassan Mougrabi, Dale Coller, Barbara Trapp, Bob Hardies, Laura Perlowski, Rev. Mary Margaret Eckhardt, Larry Davis, President Art Cole, Ron Gaffney and David Cash for giving of their time to support such a worthwhile project.
