BE THE MATCH - STEM CELL AND BONE MARROW DONATIONSThe Rotary Clubs of Livonia and Trenton are combining forces with the Be The Match organization to host a bone marrow drive on November 16, 2019. The event will be held at two locations, Burn Fitness in Livonia and the Westfield Center in Trenton. Joining the registry is now a simple task. A person simply signs into the site, swabs the inside of the cheek and sends the swab in. |

ROTARY CLUB OF LIVONIA HOLDS ANNUAL INSTALLATION DINNER![]() The Rotary Club of Livonia held its Officer and Board of Director Installation on Monday, June 17, 2019. The event was named in honor of Carl Riegal, Past Club President and Past District Governor with 57 years of Perfect Attendance in the Livonia Rotary Club. The event was held at Schoolcraft College at the Vista Tech Center. Rotary District 6400 Governor, John Chambers installed the Officers and Board of Directors for the 2019 – 2020 Rotary year. 60 Rotarians and their guests were present. THE ALL-INCLUSIVE PLAY STRUCTURE AT ROTARY PARKThe efforts of the Rotary Club of Livonia, Rotary Club of Livonia AM, City of Livonia Parks and Recreation Department and the Livonia Community to build an all-inclusive play structure in Rotary Park are taking shape. On May 30th helpers from the community along with Rotarians and City Rec Department staff joined in a 1 Day Community Build, assembling the majority of the new play structure. LIVONIA ROTARY CLUB HOLDS ANNUAL DONATION NIGHT![]() The Livonia Rotary Club held its 8th annual Donation Night on Monday evening, February 26 at Laurel Manor. This event is held annually in order to provide dollars for the many worthwhile causes and organizations in Livonia. It was a very special night to honor recipient organizations. The hard work of the club members over the past year provided almost $24,000, donated to 18 organizations, locally and globally. |

Livonia Rotarians donate their time and a little bit of muscle to help out a citizen with fall clean-up. It was raining lightly but the temperature cooperated to allow a full yard worth of leaves to be raked and bagged. Thank you Rotarians for your Service Above Self!!

Kids Against Hunger Event![]() On Saturday, October 26th, 130 volunteers, including 16 from the Livonia Rotary Club, helped pack 10,000 meals to support Kids Against Hunger. Livonia and Canton Clubs Joint MeetingOn Monday, December 3rd, the Livonia Rotary Club joined with the Canton Rotary Club for a joint meeting at Antonio's Restaurant in Canton. A nice time was had by all enjoying great food, fellowship between clubs, some money taking and culminated with Guest Speaker Robert Miller telling about his father's service to our country and being a P.O.W. during WWII.

Community Opportunity Center Fall Clean-upIn case you have every wondered what we as Rotarians do in the Community, this is but a small sampling. A group of us elected to place "Service Above Self" and ignore all those leafs in our own yards and spend a half day Saturday, November 5, 2011, helping those in Livonia who were less fortunate. We took time to do fall cleanup at two group homes run by Denise King's group, Community Opportunity Center. Love to have you join us some time! October 27, the Rotary Club of Livonia was presented with a Proclimation for
their efforts toward the eradication of Polio.
Livonia Mayor Jack Kirksey presented the proclimatiton to past President
Ron Gaffney, current President Bob Moore and assistant District Governor Dave
Cash at a prestation that took place at Livonia City Hall. The Rotary Club of Livonia is contributing
$5,000.00 to the eradication of polio. |

Elliot Broom Speaks at September 26th Meeting![]()
Elliot Broom of the Detroit Institute of Arts spoke to our Club on September 26th. Elliot talked about all the exciting things going on at the D.I.A. He described a new program started this year called Inside/Out where the D.I.A. takes art works (reproductions) out into the communities in the Detroit Metro Area. This program has been very popular and introduces works of art to the neighborhood population and hopefully sparks an interest in coming downtown to see the real thing!

Livonia Rotary Club Hosts it's Annual Golf Outing
This year's outing was held at the Whispering Willows Golf Course in Livonia. There were 4 foursomes golfing a two man scramble tournament. This year's winner with a score of 74 was the team of Art Lewis and Don Green.

Livonia Rotarians Participate in Business Expo![]()
On Tuesday, May 17th. Livonia Rotarians participated in the Livonia Chamber of Commerce Business Expo. This is an event that the Chamber of Commerce has been holding for many years. Club members Ron Gaffney (President), Stacey Willey, Gary Deschenes, Jeff Brindley and David Cash helped man the booth throughout the day.

Reverse Raffle a BIG Success!
The Livonia Rotary Reverse Raffle was held on Monday, May 9th at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Livonia. 260 tickets were sold, money was raised for the Livonia Rotary Charitable Foundation and a fun time was had by all who attended!

Student Leadership MonthOn March 21st the High School Leadership Students culminated their 3 visits with our club by running the meeting. Students from the 4 Livonia High Schools took over for our President and all of the other meeting volunteers such as; leader of the Pledge of Allegiance, Invocation, Singing (with a lively dance step to spice things up a little), 50/50 drawing and Sergeant at Arms.

The week of January 19th-26th 2011, four delegates representing Livonia Rotary and Rosedale Gardens Presbyterian Church in Livonia traveled to El Salvador to learn more about several clean water initatives supported by Rotary International.

District Governor Golf OutingThe District held the Governor’s golf outing at Fox Hills on Thursday, September 19th, with proceeds going to funding projects initiated by clubs in the district. Among those are projects in South America, Africa, Asia as well as home. Livonia Rotary was well represented with two foursomes plus 3 Rotarians for dinner. Our golfers represented the club well, scoring under par. In addition, Dick McDowell won the chipping contest for the second year. Concerns about storms were unnecessary since they woke us up at 3:15 AM on Friday. |

Roll Down Raffle Big Success!![]()
On April 26th the Livonia Rotary Club held it's first Rolldown Raffle Fundraiser. The event was held at Doc's Sports Retreat in Livonia.
